India wins first final in CB Series

India has won the first finals of the CB Series held at Sydney Cricket Ground. Chasing a target of 240 set by Australia India achieved the score with a winning boundary by Captain Mahender Singh Dhoni in 46th Over. The win was set up nicely by great innings from Sachin Tendulkar and solid knock in middle by young Rohit Sharma.

India went into finals of CB Series having just won one game against Australia. For the finals MS Dhoni made one change. Leg spinner Piyush Chawla was brought into the side and the decision payed off nicely as he along with Harbhajan Singh ensured that Australia did not ran away with game in middle over’s.

Australia were rocked back early when their top three batsmen were out for just 28 runs. Then Mathew Hayden and Andrew Symonds put on century partnership at run a ball pace. Just when Australia was looking to take charge of game Harbhajan Singh stuck with two quick wickets of Symonds and Hayden. Australia then pushed there score to 239 due to efforts of Michael Hussey and some lusty blows by tail enders.

Chasing the target India went cautiously and both Tendulkar and Uthappa played watchfully. At score of 50 Michael Hussey took brilliant catch to dismiss Robin Uthappa and soon India lost Gambhir and Yuvraj. Even though Tendulkar was looking in great form somebody needed to bat with him. Rohit Sharma came up with solid performance at number 5 and ensured India went to safety before getting out to James Hopes. Sachin Tendulkar meanwhile completed his first century in Australian soil and remained 118 not out.

The next match will be played in Hobart on Tuesday and India will be confident going into next match knowing that there is hardly third game played in finals.
